Silke Koester: Pikes Peak Ascent - August 21, 2013

Silke Koester: Pikes Peak Ascent

This past Saturday and Sunday, 2600 runners joined Dr. Suominen’s challenge for the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon. The marathon race is the 3rd oldest marathon in the US and, this year, was the USATF National Trail Running Championship race, as well as, part of the “Sky” circuit of the prestigious Sky Runner World Series (along with the legendary Zegama, Mont Blanc, Matterhorn and Limone races in Europe). To be a part of a race with this kind of history and legacy is an honor and a must-do for any local Colorado road, trail or mountain runner!

Mark Del Monaco: Life Moves Pretty Fast

There are few times when a person finds that one true passion in their life. The thing that gets them out of bed every morning and sometimes can’t put them to sleep at night. Suddenly a training run can transform into a runners high, a workout leaves you glowing with new gained confidence, or the usual dreaded long run mysteriously doesn’t feel long enough.

Kyle O’Brien: Running Across the Country

When I was in 4th grade I remember seeing a poster in the hallway of my elementary school about Cross Country.  I cannot recall the details of the poster but I do remember thinking to myself, “why would anyone run across the country?” It seemed like a wild idea and I did not pay attention to it again.  Over the next few years I never thought about running.  I just knew it was something I liked to do at night while playing manhunt at a friend’s house down the street.

Allison Sawyer: A New Chapter in Running - November 26, 2012

Allison Sawyer: A New Chapter in Running

My passion for running started in high school, when my brother suggested freshman year that I try out for indoor track, after realizing that soccer was not my calling! I remember the first day of practice running from our high school to the one light in town and back, a measly 20 minute run that at the time seemed like a lot.
